Winter 2022 Finals, Code of Conduct, and Heartland Tournament

Winter 2022 Season and Finals

Well done to everyone on another season of basketball!

Congratulations to all teams that have made finals and will be playing over the coming weeks. We will post the fixture for each week of finals on our Facebook page. Make sure to head down to the stadiums to cheer on Wasps teams if you can!

As always, the Wasps committee will arrange scorers for games during finals so the parents can sit back and enjoy watching their kids play. We have around 30 teams playing in finals this season, so any extra volunteers who can spare an hour of their time are much appreciated! If you would like to be added to the list of volunteers, please email Lauren ([email protected]). A roster will be sent around so volunteers can select which game/s they are available to score.

The Under 8 Encouragement Day will be held on Saturday 10th September at Rowville Eastern Campus. Don’t forget there will be a presentation and team photos following each game! The fixture for these games will be released this week.

Code of Conduct and Behaviour

A reminder to all players, parents, coaches, and spectators to please be mindful of your behaviour during games. This becomes especially important over finals as everyone gets a bit more competitive, but is essential at all games throughout the season. Please remember to treat referees, teammates, coaches, and the opposition with respect. We will not tolerate any abuse of referees or other poor behaviour.

Summer 2022/23 Season

Thank you to everyone who has registered for the Summer season!

A reminder that PlayHQ registration must also be completed every season.

Teams will be released on our website over Grand Final weekend (17-18th September). Keep an eye on our Facebook page throughout the day to see when each age group is available.

The season will start on 1st/2nd October.

Heartland Tournament

Over the October long weekend (29th-30th October), Knox Basketball, along with Kilsyth and Frankston Basketball Associations, will be hosting a domestic tournament, called the Heartland Tournament. Further information is available here: https://www.knoxbasketball.com.au/news-detailed/heartland-tournament-2022-announced-registration-open

All Wasps players are invited to play in the tournament. There is an option to create your own team (made up of only existing Wasps players) or enter as an individual and we will place you in a team. Individual player registration is $50, with no team registration fee. This is an exciting opportunity for players who haven’t experienced a tournament before! Games will be played at stadiums across south east Melbourne.

All team registrations will be managed by Wasps. To help us with this process, please complete this expression of interest form ASAP: https://forms.gle/hybkM5Vnq29wEUuY7

We will provide further information on completing registration following expressions of interest. Please contact us at [email protected] with any questions.

Game Day Reminders

Make sure to arrive to games 10-15 minutes early. Only white socks are to be worn with Wasps uniform.  Chewing gum is not permitted while playing or training.

Drink bottles should be left on the players bench with the coach, not with parents. Only coaches, players, and team managers should sit on the bench. Parents need to sit further down or on the other side of the court if there is seating there.

All members (players, parents, coaches) need to refrain from commenting on the referees and calls in the game. Remember this is a game!
